Pat Stoken
got the win and a bigger lead in the standings at
Billings over the weekend. Dennis Radford got the
low ETand MPH point bonus but could not turn his
performance into a win. Pat was definately the most
consistent car through eliminations running btween
6.51 and 6.61 in all three passes Sunday. He did
have low et and top mph on Sunday with his first
round 6.517/214.28 defeat of Dan Vogt. Wayne Torkelson
wasted a great 6.59/213. blast in the first round
when he red lit to Vern Mills, who had struggled
all weekend. Wayne dropped down to third in the
standings with the first round loss.Wayne Hofer
made his WCPM debut this weekend and lost a real
close one to Joe Delehay in round one. Wayne had
a great weekedn the week previous at Edmonton where
he qualified #1 in Top Sportsman and went to the
semi finals. Expect to see Joe Delehay at all the
remaining West Coast events. He will be a threat
at the remaining event as he is getting a handle
on his clutch tune-up for his BAE combination. I
would not be surprised to see a top 7 or better
finish for Delehay.

The second
race of the year at Billings (5th of 8 in the series)
had the same turnout as the last race, a surprisingly
low 7 cars but the cars turned in a good performance
Dennis Radford lead with a track record 6.47/214.52
to set both ends of the track record. The track
was a scorching hot 132 for the first session and
b the time the third qualifier came late in the
day the track had cooled to only 89 degrees as a
storm swept through the area but luckily did not
dump any rain on the mountain facility. All three
of Dennis' qualifying hits were within a tenth of
each other so he was definitely the car to watch
heading into elimination's especially since he had
a first round bye run giving him a free ride into
the semis. Wayne Torkelson was close to Radford
after a solid 6.55 with the blown T-Bird. The track
elevation was a country mile high 7800 feet making
his blown with the blown car that much more impressive.
Stoken, Delehay , Hofer (his first appearance of
the year), Vogt and Mills rounded out the field.
