Final qualifying
in AMS Pro Mod was not good for the West Coast pair
of Danny Rowe and Dennis Radford. Radford was in the
field right through the first three rounds of qualifying
with a first session 6.252, but he could not improve
in the final three and the field improved to a solid
6.199 bump, leaving Dennis and all the nitrous cars
on the short end of the ladder. Danny Rowe only got
one good run in but his 6.255 in the third round was
not enough. His team mate showed everyone the Mustang
could get the job done, when he qualified # 1 with a
great 6.165. First round pairings are: Ashley VS Cannon,
Hoover VS King, Barklage VS Smith and Stott VS Billes.
Radford looked to be a shoe in for elimination's Sunday
after his out of the trailer 6.252, but the track proved
to be tricky and he could not improve that number. He
would have had to run his second career best of the
weekend in order to make the field but his last ditch
6.41 could not get the job done. Danny Rowe struggled
through qualifying, and his third round 6.255 put him
only as close as #11. His final round 6.65 was lost
right off the starting line with severe tire shake.

Glen Kerunsky wins at San Antonio!!!
The
Canadian did us proud taking the win from the #16 qualifying
spot. All of Canada and the West Coast Pro Mod members
can pat themselves on the back. This along with the
performance of Rick Distefano (semi final finish), and
Denis Radford (#12 qualifier) proves we have a kick
butt series with a lot of very strong cars. Having Mission
Raceway make their first event of the year a 12 car
field proves the tracks believe is the series, now it
is up to the racers to support it.
Glen
was in test n tune mode in qualifying trying out new
set ups for the season, as he did not get a chance to
due any winter testing. Once they ended up in the field,
the team went back to the performance level they ran
at the end of the 2004 season. Every round Glen improved
his et (except for the final where they still ran great),
and he had great rt's (who said you could cut decent
lights with a blown car Glen?), His 6.265 in the semis
and 6.275 in the finals were the third and fourth quickest
et's on Sunday and his .044 and .043 were the third
and fourth best of the day as well. Consistency wins
races, and you have to be good on both ends of the track.

March
26, 2004 The Pro Mod
contingent at San Antonio has been invaded by the West!!
Glen Kerunsky Dennis Radford, Rick Distefano, John Scialpi
and Kip DuPuis are all at the first IHRA event of the
year. These five cars are some of the top runners in
the 30 car West Coast Series. The group will make up
15% of the 30+ cars at San Antonio. Both Glen Kerunsky
and Dennis Radford were early arrivals at San Antonio
this weekend and were happy to get out of the winter
doldrums on the North West. Radford was lucky to get
down to San Antonio early as he had chassis recertification,
and had to update roll cage specs to SFI 25-1E . To
all competitors out there that need recerts this year
make sure you check your chassis or get the necessary
cages additions done before you get tot he race track
if possible to avoid any delay's or the possibility
that there is not a welder on sit to make the needed
upgrades. We will have more later today on this race

Steve Cartier was out testing for the second straight
weekend and he looks like he will be a player on the
WCPM circuit.
